Successful people sets higher personal standards for themselves. Their personal standards are like a personal constitution which are based on certain principles and values. They becomes the basis for making life-directing decisions, the basis for making daily decisions.

What are your personal standards? Don’t worry, allow me to share few personal standards from Richard Templers’ book rules of work:
- I will not knowingly hurt or hinder another human being in the pursuit of my career.
- I will not knowingly break any laws in the furtherance of my goals.
- I will have a moral code that I will follow no matter what.
- I will endeavour to provide a positive contribution to society by what I do for a living.
- I will always endeavour to put something back.
- I will pass on freely and openly any skills, knowledge, or experience to anyone who could use them to benefit themselves.
- I will not be jealous of anyone else’s success in the same industry.
- I will question the long-term ramifications of what I do constantly.
- I will play by the Rules at all times.
- Carefully think things through before agreeing to do things
This list might not suit you or omit one of your standards but it is good to have a personal standard.
Respect Yourself
Respect yourself for striving to reach difficult goals, and think highly of yourself as you work to better yourself.
Take a look at your life. Are you satisfied with your current status? If you are, keep up the good work. However, if you’re not satisfied, you need to take a close look at the personal standards you set for yourself.
Kris Carr said “You can’t please everyone. When you’re too focused on living up to other people’s standards, you aren’t spending enough time raising your own. Some people may whisper, complain and judge. But for the most part, it’s all in your head. People care less about your actions than you think. Why? They have their own problems!”
