4. Be Valuable to Others

Whether it is in the office, home or among your friends; people generally respect those who are more valuable to them. Value could be in form of support,  helping others to solve problems, caring about others or doing other positive and ethical things. Try to be valuable to your community, school and colleagues, they will respect you for it.

5. Control your Emotions

It is very hard to respect people who will show funny emotion on every occasion. There is a differences between responding and reacting to an issue. You just have to hold over your emotions and not let them control you. For example, if you don’t control your emotion in a very hot conversation, you tend to cry, insult others, fight or even quit.

6. Honour your Words

Always keep your words, be serious and deliver what you promised. This will boost your esteem in the eyes of others. It will be difficult for people to respect you if you do not always keep to your word. Try not to be late for appointments.

7. Be a Role Model to Others

Be a role model to others by way of your behaviour. This includes upholding yourself to a higher code of conduct. You don’t have to be perfect, but you should generally act in an admirable and caring manner for others to follow you.
