5 Steps to Get Yourself Motivated

5 steps to self motivation

In each person’s life eventually there comes a time when an absolute lack of reason and motivation starts kicking in.

Blessed are those who overcome those times easily, but there are others who find it very hard to think of a reason why they should keep going and go normally about their lives.

A person without motivation is a lot like a car without gas – it has the full potential to get going, but not the energy to do so.

Here we’re going to discuss how to obtain motivation for pursuing your dreams further on.

1. Defining Your Objective

One step most people fail at is not to have a clear goal, or to have a plentitude of goals.

Don’t get me wrong, having great aspirations and many goals is not wrong, however it’s what keeps most people from really working to achieve them.

Instead, try to set one goal, and follow it through. When it’s just one, there’s quite a chance you’ll be able to dedicate your everything to it, and thus quite a chance of achieving it. This makes sense when you think about it , so try not to multitask if possible, and devote yourself to that one goal.

2. Declare Your Intentions Publicly

You’ll find it quite harder to quit if you’ve already mentioned your goals to a few people.  Some people wouldn’t publicly declare their goals because others would laugh at them. Take that chance and if anybody laughs – try to prove them wrong.

Whatever the opinions of others are, they will be a stimulating factor for you – either you’ll be trying to prove yourself true to your word, or you’ll be trying to prove someone wrong.

It doesn’t matter, as long as you still want to prove something and you’re motivated enough to do it.

3. Take Small Steps at First

If you want to accomplish something you should be prepared for the fact that it will probably take time. Still, don’t let that distract you from your objective.

Do what you can in the amount of time you have, and take not even of the smaller accomplishments.

Soon enough, they’ll start piling up and you’ll see that your hard work is giving fruit. Take the pyramids for example – they weren’t built in a day, and more importantly – they were built by slowly piling things on top of others.

Thomas Edison have failed more than 10000 times before creating a light bulb.

In conclusion, so long as you’re putting one foot in front of the other, things will turn out for the better.

4. Think About Your Goal … to the Point of Obsession

Don’t allow yourself to forget what you’ve promised to yourself, not even for a split second. Take some time each and every day, to revise on what you have or haven’t done to reach your destination.

Think about how good it will be when you achieve your goal; imagine it in your head – all the people you’ll have made happy. Imagine yourself, your own happiness and satisfaction.

Once you do, you’ll feel that all the hard work you’re pouring into that task is meaningful, and that will help drive you further.

5. Catch Negative Thinking and Crush it On the Spot

Negative thinking is a typical reaction of the mind. It is a deception that will drive you further away from your goal, making you think you’re unworthy and not talented enough.

So try to catch such thoughts when they appear, and forget them as quickly as you can. Some people claim it helps by saying the exact opposite of negative thoughts in your mind.

If it helps you, you can find a mantra and recite it for inspiration and motivation, but that’s totally up to you and your preferences.

Last but not least, you should remember that not everything is always in your reach. Still , that’s not an excuse to slack off from your own life and dreams.

Do what you must, and be satisfied that you’re getting better and better every day, inching your way to the one thing you want most.

Conclusion

Hopefully, these tips have helped you get more motivated. Good luck with the obstacles on the way, and remember – only you can make your dreams come true!

I believe one becomes naturally motivated when he or she finds what they enjoy doing. This is not some airy-fairy “follow your passion” idea, but rather focused on finding what the individual is naturally good at. This then leads to greater enjoyment, and natural motivation.

    • Thank you G Freedom. I totally agreed with the “follow your passion” idea.
However, it can be easily achieved when the passion is put in an organized form. For example your objective should consider what is your passion. If the goal and passion are not aligned, you will definitely face a number of self-doubting issues.
      Thank you.
