Why Most People Fail in Life

Welcome to the world of success. It is common for most successful people to be termed as lucky. However many successful people do not believed that they are just lucky. Today, I want to share with you 8 reasons why most people fail:

1. We don’t know what we truly want.

What do you really want ? Why do you go to office every working day ? Why are you going for classes ?

I believe the primary reason is that most of us, regardless of our age, simply do not know what we really, truly want—we only think we know. – Jack M Zufelt

2. We do not plan to succeed

You will always have a better chance to succeed in any venture if you have a good plan. Planning requires you to set a S.M.A.R.T objective and the mean to achieve it.

3. We procrastinate too much

The paralysis of analysis will most times make you fail. You have a good idea or concept, but you spend too much time on planning and analysis. Or you keep on carrying forward an important task or activity.

Good thoughts are no better than good dreams, unless they are executed.” —Ralph Waldo

4. We blame others

Most people likes to blame others when thing goes south. They will say “If the economy……, if the government……if my parents…..if my manager…..” Blaming others for everything will not give you hope. Yes, it means you are never in control. Accept full responsibility of your results because you are the person who can control your life. You will continue to fail, if others are controlling your life.

5. Not doing what we know

You will most likely fail when you are doing something you do not understand. If you want to do something, please learn about it.

“If you want to make small, incremental improvements, work on your behavior. If you want to make quantum leaps in improvement, work on your paradigms.” —Stephen R. Covey

6. Give Up to easily

If we compare life to football, most people give up when you score them in the first 15 minutes. During Sir Alex’s time, Man United will never give up even the last extra 3 minutes time. We should learn from our failures and accept them as a learning curve. Never give up, because failure is an exams which many successful people have taken over and over again.

Collin Power said success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty, and persistence.

7. Poor network

Ok, we have to agree on this one. Some people are more successful because they have a good network and connection. Build your network, connection or contacts. Your contacts help you grow your business. Yes, if your network is not supporting your growth and success, change it.

8. Fear of Failure

Believe in yourself, fail

If you’re afraid of failing, you won’t take the necessary risks required to achieve your goal. Example you are afraid to start a new business because you’re afraid that you might end up without any money. Don’t let fear or insecurity stop you from trying new things. Unfortunately, most people let fear stop them from taking the necessary steps to achieve their dreams.

Fear can be good when you’re walking past an alley at night or when you need to check the locks on your doors before you go to bed, but it’s not good when you have a goal and you’re fearful of obstacles. We often get trapped by our fears, but anyone who has had success has failed before. – Queen Latifah

Thanks boss for sharing. You are really right people don’t differential needs and wants. Failure is the outcome of fear in acting whether in business, family developmental issues and education. From portfolio theory it was agreed that the higher the risk the better the returns , but you have take a calculated risk to attain your objectives. But people struggles on the balancing act of risk and reward. They want more on returns with less or no risk.

    • Thanks for the insight into the relationship between risk and return. Your example also reminds me of the relationship between hard work and success. Some people want to pass exams but they do not want to sit and read to understand the course.
